New Sci-Fi Stealth Horror Title Announced – The Persistence
Liverpool-based development studio, Firesprite, today announced an exciting new stealth horror title available exclusively on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR, The Persistence. The game takes place aboard a deep space scientific vessel far into the future, in the year 2521. The ship has been sent 17,000 light years from Earth to conduct top-secret experiments. A horrific accident takes place, mutating much of the crew and leaving the remaining survivors fighting for their very existence. The plot doesn’t sound all too dissimilar to Event Horizon, a fantastic sci-fi flick from the 90s that’s well worth the watch.
Players aboard The Persistence will be greeted by a procedurally space vessel. Each time you falter and a character dies, a new survivor is awoken and you will be taking a different paths through a newly generated environment – ensuring it’s near enough impossible to have the same play through multiple times.

Not only for the sense of presence that virtual reality brings, but also for the natural control head tracking offers. Sneaking around and hiding behind cover; it’s second nature in VR to just lean round or peek over cover to gain the advantage,”[/testimonials]The PlayStation VR experience will be accompanied by a companion app that will allow other players to play alongside the VR user. Once logged in up to 4 tablets can enter play, controlling many aspects of the game including the option to open and close doors, distract enemies, disable traps and find hidden items. However, the tables can turn the other way as tablet players are sometimes rewarded should the VR player be killed.

As an avid scifi fan, I want to try this, but I’m far too much of a coward to keep subjecting myself to dealing with the horrors in the game. That’s cool that there is a companion app to let others join in via VR. If I get Playstation VR, I can definitely join in with someone through there not alone.
