Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Game Description
The Second Installment In The Highly Anticipated Trilogy
Released in February 2024, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the highly anticipated sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake and the second chapter in a reimagined trilogy revisiting the beloved 1997 classic. Developed and published by Square Enix, Rebirth takes players on a brand new adventure following Cloud Strife and his companions as they venture beyond the confines of the sprawling metropolis of Midgar.
The Story Leaves Midgar Behind
The story picks up after the events of Remake, where Cloud and Avalanche successfully destroyed the Shinra headquarters but grappled with the shocking revelation of Sephiroth’s return. With Midgar in flames, Rebirth throws the party headfirst into a vast and vibrant world. No longer confined to the steel canyons of the city, players can expect to explore expansive environments – from grassy plains perfect for chocobo rides to hidden corners teeming with secrets.
Rebirth retains its action RPG core, offering a refined combat system that builds upon the foundation laid in Remake. Players can control various characters, each with their own unique fighting styles and abilities. Cloud remains the main protagonist, wielding his massive Buster Sword with devastating effect. But expect to switch between Barret, Tifa, Aerith, and Red XIII as the situation demands, utilizing their diverse skillsets to overcome challenging enemies.
Huge, Open Areas To Explore
One of the biggest draws of Rebirth is its exploration. The world map is no longer a static menu selection but a fully explorable environment. Players can freely traverse vast landscapes, uncovering hidden paths, optional dungeons, and side quests. This focus on world exploration allows for a deeper dive into the rich lore of Final Fantasy VII. Towns and settlements dot the landscape, each offering unique stories, shops to stock up on supplies, and mini-games to provide a break from the main narrative.
Exciting New Narrative Direction
The narrative itself promises to be a thrilling rollercoaster ride. While Rebirth features familiar faces and locations from the original game, Square Enix has made it clear that this is not a straight remake. The ending of Remake left players with a sense of unease, hinting at a future vastly different from the original. Rebirth delves into the consequences of those changes, forcing Cloud and his allies to confront not only Sephiroth’s lingering threat but also the unexpected twists and turns their altered reality throws their way.
New Characters
New characters are also play an important role in Rebirth. Cid & Vincent, two incredibly popular characters from the original game, both feature throughout Final Fantasy VII Rebirth although, unfortunately, neither of them are playable characters.
Visually Magnificent
Visually, Rebirth is a stunning spectacle. Built upon the impressive foundation of Remake, the game pushes the graphical capabilities of the PlayStation 5 even further. Environments are meticulously crafted, brimming with detail and life. Character models are expressive and emote a wide range of emotions. The soundtrack, always a hallmark of the Final Fantasy series, promises to be equally impressive, with both familiar and original compositions that set the mood for each encounter.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is more than just a sequel; it’s an ambitious expansion of the beloved universe. With a vast world to explore, a refined combat system, and a narrative full of surprises, Rebirth offers a captivating experience for both longtime fans and newcomers to the series. As Cloud and his companions journey beyond Midgar, players can expect an unforgettable adventure filled with heart-pounding action, emotional moments, and the enduring themes of environmentalism, heroism, and defying destiny.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Tips, Tricks, & Secrets
Assess Is The Secret To Combat
The Assess Materia, which is available right at the start of the game, is arguably one of the most important Materia in the entire game. Using it in combat allows you to analyze enemies. With a higher level Assess Materia, a single use can analyze every enemy in combat.
This skill is vital because enemies have unique strengths and weaknesses and being able to capitalize on these weaknesses, causing enemies to weaken and stumble, is the secret to making even the most difficult battles in the game far easier and quicker
Watch For ! Warning Attacks
Certain enemy abilities, typically the most powerful available to that type of enemy, cannot be blocked. When enemies are preparing to use these abilities you will see an “!” icon above the enemies head. This is your signal to either dodge out of the way or flee to a safe distance to avoid the incoming attack.
Be Careful Using & Unlocking Synergy Abilities
Throughout the game, Cloud will increase his friendship rating for each of the characters in the party. Eventually, once the party reaches Chapter 12, Cloud will have the opportunity to date one of the games main characters.
Synergy Abilities, once used for the first time in combat, offer the single biggest boost to a relationship with the character using the Synergy Ability. As such, it’s a good idea to make sure you have unlocked and used at least one more Synergy Ability on your date target than other members of the party.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth FAQ
Does Searching Tifa’s Closet Change The Game Later?
No, unlike the original Final Fantasy VII, where decisions influenced hidden relationship tracking behind the scenes, Rebirth’s is a front ended feature that informs the player of any changes to any of the relationships with other characters.
Is Zack A Playable Character?
Zack is a playable character but unlike the other main characters of the game, he does not join the players party on a permanent basis. During certain sections of the game players retain a control over Zack like any other character, but this is during specific story segments only.
It is possible to play as Zack more freely, by completing all of the challenges in the Combat Simulator, but his role is still restricted to Chadley’s virtual environment
Why Does Everyone Hate Chadley?
Chadley is a bubbly and enthusiastic character that plays a vital role throughout the events of Rebirth. The most likely cause for players not enjoying the characters appearances is the interruptive nature of his purpose.
During many activities in the larger areas, Chadley interrupts the player to provide information and advice on a region or enemy. Some players find this irritating.
Are Cid & Vincent Playable Characters?
No, neither Cid or Vincent are available as player characters. Both play an important role in the events of Rebirth, but it’s most likely they will be fully playable in the final installment or an interim release.
